"Let’s get one thing straight. I haven’t invented anything. Everything I know I either learned from someone else or read it in a book. Even that statement comes from Butch Harmon, the great golf teacher, and is unoriginal. I am not seeking to be original but to be effective."

Welcome to the journey that is awareness training. In the following months you will become increasingly taunted by the paradoxical, confusing and utterly simplistic experience of Brutal Awareness Training.
Whether you call it the ‘zone’, truth, enlightenment or whatever, we’ve all experienced it. Immersed in the present moment we are able to combine the seemingly incompatible forces of intense concentration with a detachment from outcome or ‘letting go’. Within these moments, described by the Japanese as ‘mushin’ or no-mind, we find a unique stillness or silence within action, a sense of tranquil knowing, a one-ness with our experience. In essence, we become what we are doing.
For most of the psychos that read Shitfighter, this silence is achieved through intense training, pushing past self-imposed limits and experiencing the euphoria of a savage workout. Giving yourself a good beating is a great way to smash down the conscious mind’s need to control. But a silence through violence routine is only one way to experience no-mind. Far more difficult is the ability to surrender completely to the moment when you feel fresh. This is an essential trait in the complete warrior.
