Killer Cardio

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say, “I hate cardio!” I’d much rather do some stairs, lay into a kick bag or do a ladder, anything but boring cardio. As a gym instructor I am confronted with this problem a lot. The majority of people I meet to discuss programs with want to lose weight, in fact I think everyone wants to lose weight until you mention that dreaded word…CARDIO. People are happy to walk on a treadmill for 20 – 30 minutes but when you work out the pace / incline they need to work at to get their heart rate up between 50-70% of their maximum, they start to understand why they are not losing any weight; for most this is between 140bpm – 160bpm. Then when you start talking about the time factor, “the longer the better”, they don’t want to know you. So, quite often, people need a good cardio program and from my experience this is it!
