Training your deficiencies
Most people when they train end up defining themselves as something, whether it be a bodybuilder, endurance athlete, sportsman or whatever, they train for a specific purpose. By defining themselves in these categories they have defined the type of training they are going to undertake. This means that they become highly skilled at certain things but generally neglect others.
In general:
Bodybuilders – heavy weights, low reps, not much cardio
Endurance – lighter weights, high reps, a lot of cardio
Explosive sports (volleyball, basketball, tennis) – lighter weights, high reps, plyometrics, short, explosive movements, cardio
Physical sports (football) – heavy weights, low reps, cardio
Etc…
