The Block
By Haydn Ellis, founder of Brutal Training

Beast FistI have been training with Master Raoul again. It has been incredibly painful but awesome fun. Part of the Kentokan conditioning process is to harden the body against impact. I have been fortunate enough to be given one of Raoul’s 3 wooden blocks especially made for this purpose. It is approximately 1 metre long, 15cm wide and 10cm high. For all the serious fighters out there that read this web site this one’s for you.

Here’s my daily ‘block circuit’. The idea is to perform 100 reps on each body part. Raoul says to keep it at 100 reps rather than increasing the rep count. Just hit it harder for 100 reps rather than do more reps. You can of course do it more than once in a day! The block of wood Raoul gave me is so hard I call it the titanium block.

  1. Using the ball of the foot (toes curled up) kick the block 100 times with each foot
