Open wide and say, Aahhh!

It’s everywhere you look. Ancient breathing techniques. From Indian Pranayama to Chinese Chi Gung, Tibetan Rites and Japanese Ki techniques, breathing is presented as an essential element in all facets of life including health, sport and spiritual development. Like any religion, the practitioners of the various schools of thought from yoga to Tai Chi all claim their methodologies as superior. For us at Brutal it comes back to what works. And finding out what works involves trial and error within the context of your goals.

We are aiming in this section to introduce breathing from the aspect of enhancing training and athletic performance. Our objectives are both physical and mental. We will demonstrate the application of breathing to various physical exercises as well as to skill execution. Like all things though, try not to fall into the trap of cause and effect. Breathing itself is only part of any process and provides a myriad of benefits, even though you may be concentrating on only one at any particular time. Over time you may find that your experiences with breathing will have an impact on almost everything you do. Even when you’re not concentrating on breathing the effects can still be profound.

The exercises and philosophies presented here are not to be considered mutually exclusive with other articles in the member’s section. All the apparent components on this site are intimately related.
