Magical Star Child

I was very privileged recently to be given some prose written by one of Brutal’s toughest and yet most spiritually aware exponents. This is definitely one for Kelso. After getting her permission I’m able to share a piece written in 1996 that took my breath away. Take it away Linda H.

I Wish…

I wish I could fly
Roaming endlessly I would go, flying to destinations unknown
My graceful yet sturdy wings would let me soar through the wind
Manoeuvring my flexible body around any landform created

The world is distant when I reach great heights
I have a mind of my own and nothing is impossible
The blinding light guides me to unknown places
And once I have reached beyond this light
My mind clears and I have a stronger grasp on life

I am a bird of my own
I picture myself being many species of bird
Perhaps a different type each day
Depending on where I am going and what I must do
This tranquil world I have created with my dreams
Gives me the chance to escape
Explore and feel free from different perspectives
I can fly out of control
Expressing my feelings in any possible form
Nothing and no-one can tear me away from my powers and dreams

While I fly, I also have the power to sing melodious tunes
Whether it is when I am flying free
Or if I am perched on a lush, tall green tree singing to the world
It’s disappointing to realise these powers I have
Only become reality in my dreams
While I dream of these powers and visions they all appear so realistic
I guess if I were all true there wouldn’t be anything to dream about or escape to

My dreams can take me to places unseen and unheard of
And I know I can always come back to reality

And in 2004 Linda started Brutal Training. The Beast was unleashed.
