Time: A state of mind?

Grind Metal - Metal MaskHave you ever wondered why time flies when you are having fun? Could it be that you are so in the moment, engrossed totally in what you are doing that you are for a short period living in the ‘now’. While this is occurring the past and the present do not exist. Does that then mean that the past and the present and therefore time is only a state of mind, or even worse, a figment of our imagination?
Why is solitary confinement supposed to be such a terrible punishment to prisoners?  It’s not because they are by themselves, without company, but rather because they have to face themselves and their overactive insecure minds. Solitary confinement wouldn’t be so bad if there was Foxtel and some inane chatter.
When you are in traffic, making blind turns in front of cars in order to try and get somewhere quicker, is it because you actually need to be somewhere five minutes sooner? Or is it because it will mean five minutes less of possibly being confronted by some tough questions, or even worse, being confronted by nothing... silence. “Must get home, turn on TV...â€

Is time a state of mind? What is time? How can you judge your worth and achievements if not measured by the time it took to achieve them? Why does sleep go so fast?
