Ignorance

I finished another book recently, this one on loan from The Unit. It is entitled “The Secret Teachings of All Ages” and was written by Manly P. Hall. Although heavy going at times it is one of the most profound books I’ve ever read. In the author’s conclusions at the end of the book he addresses a topic close to my own heart and one of the reasons that Brutal exists – ignorance.

I quote from the book:

“Two fundamental forms of ignorance were recognised by Platonists: simple ignorance and complex ignorance.”

“Simple ignorance is merely lack of knowledge and is common to all creatures… (it) is an ever-active agent, urging the soul onward to the acquisition of knowledge.”

“In addition to simple ignorance which is the most potent factor in mental growth there exists another, which is of a far more dangerous and subtle type. This second form… may be briefly defined as ignorance of ignorance.

Before continuing I’ll remind you of one of Musashi’s powerful statements in his ‘Book of 5 Rings’,

“Do not put your trust in the things of men.”

What are these ‘things of men’? Hall continues:

“The twentieth century makes a fetish of civilisation and is overwhelmed by its own fabrications; its Gods are of its own fashioning. Humanity has forgotten how infinitesimal, how impermanent and how ignorant it actually is… As this tiny planet rolls along its orbit in space, it carries with it some (six) billion human beings who live and die oblivious to that immeasurable existence lying beyond the lump on which they dwell. Measured by the infinities of time and space, what are the captains of industry or the lords of finance? If one of these plutocrats should rise until he ruled the earth itself, what would he be but a petty despot seated on a grain of Cosmic dust?

“He who knows no life but the physical is merely ignorant; but he who declares physical life to be all-important and elevates it to the position of supreme reality – such a one is ignorant of his own ignorance.” 

In a recent discussion I had with Master Raoul I confessed to having used some of the healing techniques he had shown us during my early Karate days. I told him that I had used them without even knowing the names of the body parts. Here is his reply:

“I learnt all that and got my certificate. The best thing I did was to forget it. Knowledge of  the names of body parts does not heal someone, these heal (holding up his hands). You heal with feel.”

Please accept your profound ignorance of the Universe and the workings of Nature and its laws. It is only then that you can begin to gain a true understanding of the nature of things, the reality of existence and an appreciation for the true history of man.

Or take the blue pill, go back to sleep and wake up just in time to die…
