Human Resistance

OK guys and gals, for this drill you will need a willing and able fellow psycho and a 50 meter stretch of beach, field, hill, preferably hill, or sand dune!

The drill is done in a ‘you go, I go’ format, so when your fellow psycho is working that is your rest period, although you will still have to do some work on some of the drills.

Get your warrior heads on for this one,
Let the battle commence…….

• Drill 1 - Wheelbarrow walking- your partner grabs your ankles and you walk forward one hand in front of the other, keeping your core tight and not letting your body sag. Walk all the way down and back up the hill without your body touching the floor, grunt, groan and snarl your way if you have to, just do it, pure determination to make it, now it’s your partner’s turn.

• Drill 2 - Back carries- Your partner jumps on your back in a back carry position with their arms around your neck or shoulders and you holding their legs underneath the knees. Again walk down and back up the hill , no stopping ,no putting your partner down, just decide at the start you are going to make it and do it, when you make it back to the top, your partner goes.

• Drill 3 - Fire man’s carry- Put your partner over your shoulders in a fire man’s carry position, all the way down and back up again, and then your partner goes; now you go again over the opposite shoulder- we don’t want to be unbalanced!

• Drill 4 - Zercher carry- Prepare to hurt! Pick up your partner in the zercher position, holding them in front of your body in the crook of your arms, your arms kept at a 90-degree angle. Your partner must keep there body tight, like a log, now walk, and yes you may grunt, scream, do whatever, just get down and back up without placing your partner down, partner’s go.

• Drill 5 - Partner push ups- Lie on your back, with your hands going straight up, i.e. top bench press position, your partner then goes into a push up position with there body facing the opposite way to yours using your hands as support, so they are in a push up position and you are acting as their base. Both now simultaneously bend your arms until your partner’s chest touches yours. Now simultaneously both of you push and straighten your arms again, so you are basically benching and your partner in doing a push up. It should be a mirror image. Now you see the reason for facing opposite directions unless you wanna be kissing, if you do it’s fine. Shoot for 10-20 reps.

• Drill 6 - Resisted hill sprinting- Go to the bottom of the hill and sprint up it, your partner’s job is to stand behind you and resist your sprint, they can either do it by holding on to your waist with there arms, or by tying a belt or rope around your waist. I recommend the later option.

• Drill 7 - Reverse dragging- Same as the last drill but this time you sprint backwards. An option here is for both of you to grab a rope and as you try to sprint backwards up the hill, pulling your partner up with you, they are resisting, so it becomes a sort of psychopathic tug of war. It will fry your grip and adds an upper body pulling motion to the drill. This is an awesome drill!

Once you and your partner have worked through all of the above, do it again, and then again, yes 3 rounds of this circuit!!

There are endless options for partner resistance drills, play around with them and make up your own unique and sick ways to challenge/punish your training partner.

Who said your need weights???

A psycho will do.

The adventure awaits…

Live it
