Unlike a lot of the people training under Brutal, you are not training to perform on the elite sporting stage. Why is it that you train?
Firstly, I train for the sake of training. I don't aspire to be an elite athlete, but I had my reasons for starting although they were unusual. So I train now to train my mind and my body so that they can do what I want them to do.
There were two reasons why I started. The first one was that I had heard a lot of very good things about Brutal from my friends, but the second was, I had been training in martial arts and had found them lacking in strong physical training. While there was a lot of technique involved, I wasn't getting any physical trial out of it.
Have you tried other types of training? If so which ones and how do they compare to Brutal?
Briefly, running through my history I have done quite a lot of balls sports, but never very seriously. The one sport I did seriously was sailing. During holidays at school I trained up to several times a week and competed at State level and in Nationals for National Cadets. That training was quite analytical, it involved a lot to do with thinking about what you were doing, hard concentrating, and having to apply rules you have just learnt. Things like how winds were moving, how your sales were being affected. So it wasn't so much of a physical trial, except on high wind days, but you would have to stay focused for up to three hours straight. That was during my teen years.
In respects to marital arts, I have done several different types of Karate and Judo, not for extremely long periods. I'd tend to find that either the training would not stretch me enough or for other circumstances I would need to finish. Unfortunately, when I was young, I had the attitude that I would do something for a while then stop. Which I'm quite disappointed about now. Now I think I have developed on from that, so I would like to go back to martial arts at some stage when the time's right.
