(December 14, 1883 – April 26, 1969)
Founder of the modern martial art Aikido
This month’s Profile is not of an exponent of Brutal Training, but of a man who’s life was Brutal Training. Morihei Uyeshiba spent his life looking for truth. His study of truth was not separate from him. He did not observe his training but rather lived it. He trained neither for fitness nor to satisfy a fear driven ego but to understand his true self. He is this month’s profile to remind us that there is always someone who has sacrificed more than us, trained harder than us and is wiser than us. This can serve as nothing more than encouragement, to remain strong, courageous and above all continue training.
Because this profile cannot follow the traditional question and answer format that we’re accustomed to in this section we’ve broken it down into a brief history of Master Uyeshiba’s life and how it has influenced Brutal Training. We note some of the miracles he has performed and finish with a warning to those who play sport.
