JOHN SPIERS (aka BUNDY)
Top amateur golfer and Pennant player for Royal Melbourne Golf Club

Chris BurnsSo Bundy, you've known Haydn for years but only started training with the Brutal DAT sessions after returning from overseas. What made you decide to start Brutal?
I had been going to training sessions with Haydn for a number of years, but I would often have things come up that would cause me to miss a few sessions, make a few excuses. It was not till I returned from 6 months backpacking that I decided to make the absolute commitment to developing myself physically and mentally ( just going to do it no matter what). I knew from my dealings with Haydn that a true commitment starting with DAT would be a great base to build on.

You've had a lot to do with the philosophical evolution of Brutal by acting as a sounding board for much of the 'insanity' going on in the mind of Haydn. Tell us about your experiences on the golf course with Quantam Golf and the first time you broke 70 including the cored greens.
As my golf game developed I put very little energy into the mental aspects. I remained focused on improving my physical game. Remaining calm and controlling the situation were my only real mental objectives. Quantum Golf was a massive eye opening experience for me and an introduction to various Eastern philosophies. The idea of letting go and not controlling the situation was a big change for me. Using breathing and mental exercises to remove my mind from the game had a dramatic effect on my golf. When I broke 70 for the first time I was playing with Haydn, my handicap was 2 at the time and I played to it, never really better. It was the first day we had decided to focus only on Quantum Golf ideas. It was a fire an brimstone day, we had to wait under a tree for half an hour as one of the worst lighting storms I have seen passed by. I was even with 3 holes to go and then it just happened, I holed a 30ft putt for birdie, hit it in the bunker on the next, told Haydn I would hole it and did then birdied the last to have 69, a day I will always remember.
