The Journeys of Socrates
Dan Millman
‘How a boy became a warrior became a wise man’
The Journey of Socrates falls into the category of fiction with inspirational messages along the line of the Paul Coelho books. The story revolves around a boy’s upbringing in 19th century Russia. From an early age right through to adulthood he meets many arduous challenges and the breadth of the book is how he meets those challenges and more importantly learns from them. The boy mentioned is affectionately known as Socrates, a character in one of Millman’s previous books, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior. Whilst the narrative itself is compelling, this book would not get a mention on our website if it weren’t for the philosophical undertones and the constant references to his training which are just awe inspiring.
The opening passage of the book is the following:
Every journey has a secret destination of which the traveler is unaware
