The Tao Te Ching
By Burnsy

The Tao Te Ching is considered one of the biggest mysteries of ancient Chinese writing as is that of its creator Lao Tzu. Created some time before 265BC (as to when nobody seems to know) it sums up the ancient philosophy of Taoism, which was used as guidance by the rulers of ancient China.

Without going into DETAIL ON WHAT Taoism is (you can check out the review of the Tao of Pooh if you want clarification), the Tao Te Ching is really nothing more than 81 small scriptures that are set out more as questions to think of than answers to anything. Yet in the way they are written the question delivers the answer within itself which is what makes them so profound. It essentially embodies Lao Tzu’s belief of what the full circle of life is through his observation of nature and the climate of his time. Its teachings have almost become an institution of the way the Chinese people have lived their lives from then on and has many important things to say on just how simple it all should be.

It is this simplicity that we seem to have forgotten in our current climate, caught up in the rush of the modern world, always striving to be better rather than just be. I know that by reading these scriptures it has given me a better perspective on just what life should be like.
