The Biggest Threat
The biggest threat to the development of self-confidence is being concerned with the opinions of others according to Napolean Hill in his classic ‘Think and Grow Rich’. I have to say in my own case that when the majority are critical of what I’m doing I know I’m on the right track but when the masses start agreeing with me I start to question what I'm doing.
Let’s face it though; in most cases you don’t actually know what other people think of you. You speculate as to what other people probably think. It becomes a case of not worrying about what other people think but rather worrying about what you think other people are thinking of you. Most people spend an enormous amount of energy trying to determine what other people think of them. This is how most people determine their ‘sense of self’. It is from here that the average person formulates their self-image.
