For tough guys and girls

Hello there. It’s not often I write about training drills. I’m usually pontificating about some philosophical nonsense or getting on my high horse over modern medicine. Anyway time for really Brutal Training.

As mentioned previously on this site lots of the guys and girls train doing ladders. From what I understand ‘ladder’ training came out of US prisons where the exercise yard is no bigger than (or often is) a squash court. Apparently the infamous ‘burpee’ ladder evolved there. It was alleged that prisoners would do one burpee, jog up and back and then do two burpees. Supposedly the really tough guys got as far as 30 and then came back down the ladder. That’s right, 900 burpees. Tough stuff. One of the Brutal crew has in fact done a pushup ladder to 40 and back. Massive.

Over time, we have developed some pretty tough ladders. Some with added explosive components. Here’s 3 of my favourites. Two of them you can do on your own but the third requires a partner.
